SCPS & University of Auckland regret to advise that we no longer offer ACLS Full, ACLS Recertification, and PALS Commercial courses.

Description

This 1-day ALCS Recertification (8-hour) course is designed as an update and re-validation programme for those who already hold a valid qualification in Advanced Resuscitation or Advanced Cardiac Life Support and is best suited to:

  • health professionals working in an acute environment (e.g. ED, ICU, CCU) or
  • those who have completed an ACLS Full Course within the past 2 years.

Prerequisites
Certification from the following providers is acceptable:

  • NZ Resuscitation Council and Australian Resuscitation Council-Accredited Courses
  • American Health Association Affiliates
  • European Resuscitation Council

Certification from other providers will be considered on the application.

Preparation

For participants to gain the most benefit and achieve the course's assessment standards, the online course readings and practice tests must be completed before the course.  Confirmed registrants will be provided with online course access approximately 3-4 weeks before the course date.

Content
The Recertification course commences with an update on any new Resuscitation Science and then goes straight into summative and formative assessments. Each skill station starts with a demonstration of the required standard by the instructor, a short practice/tutorial period, followed by an assessment.

Assessment
The mastery style of assessment is the form of assessment predominantly utilised during the course. This style sets specific targets, and participants are required to meet these during the programme. Participants may pass each target on their first attempt or require several efforts to reach the required standards.

The registration closing date is four weeks before the course commencement date.

The course venue is at the Simulation Centre for Patient Safety, University of Auckland, Bldg 502 Level B, 85 Park Road, Grafton, Auckland 1023

Please note: a minimum of 5 participants is required for the course. In the event of less than 5 participants, the course may be deferred or cancelled.

The course can only be delivered on-site. Off-shore training enquiries are not accepted at this stage.
