This course is open to anyone who is interested in learning the basic skills of taking blood and IV Cannulation. It has been designed and developed to assist those that are required to safely perform Peripheral Intravenous Cannulation and Phlebotomy as part of their practice.
Upon successful completion of the course, a Certificate of Participation is awarded which is valid for two years, however, this certificate does not qualify you as a phlebotomist. If you wish to become qualified practitioner, this can be achieved by further training on qualified technical schools and practising blood taking on a regular basis.
In order for participants to gain the most benefit and to achieve the assessment standards of the course, it is essential the online course readings and practice tests are completed prior to the course.
Participants can access their online course from this link below. Username and password will be emailed to all confirmed course registrants approximately 3-4 weeks prior to the course date.
Registration closing date is four weeks prior to course commencement date.
The course will be held at Simulation Centre for Patient Safety, University of Auckland Grafton Campus, Bldg 502 Level B, 85 Park Road, Grafton, Auckland 1023.
Please note: a minimum of 10 participants is required for the course. In the event of less than 10 participants the course may be deferred or cancelled.
